a dialogue about falling in love and celebrating the love of your life with the day(s) of your dreams...
LoveFest, a.k.a. Alex and Erica, officially began on 5 October 2007. Erica proposed to Alex on 12 April 2009 and Alex proposed to Erica on 11 July 2009. Since then, they have continued to propose to each other--in kitchens, in queues, in concerts--while planning their two weddings for 2010, each in their hometowns in Cornwall, England, and Northern California, USA.
These pages are the journey towards two beautiful, feminist, queer, eco-conscious, people-oriented, down-right-dancing weddings/civil partnerships/commitment ceremonies. We hope you enjoy the party.
Hi Erica! These photos are absolutely gorgeous! If I may post an extra-long comment... they completely reminded me of a story my friend, Bella Shing, wrote:
ReplyDeleteDrew and I were on our way to our usual walk along West Cliff, a beautiful stretch along the Santa Cruz coast and depending on the route we take, will often come across railroad tracks.
When we arrive at the tracks, we tend to jump onto them and race one another. Well, race is hardly the word. It's more like step, step, wobble, breathe, step, step, step faster, whoa, aaargh, fall.
Pretty soon, though, we both find our rhythm. We have our individual methods. For me, it's a practice of staying extremely centered in my body. If I start thinking ahead, or spacing out, I inevitably lose my balance. We've both gotten pretty good at walking the thin stretch of steel on our own.
And then one day, Drew ventured, "I wonder what it would be like if we held hands?" He reached out for my hand and with the added support, we found that we could literally run down the tracks.
We still needed to maintain our own balance, but the connection between the two of us suddenly allowed us to do something that would have been impossible on our own.
And such has been the beauty of the Beloved relationship. Drew and I both love our independence, we can both stand on our own, but our relationship constantly takes us to new heights and experiences neither of which we could attain alone.
Hope you enjoyed! <3 janelle
Janelle! I am almost in tears over my cereal this morning. Thank you for posting Bella's gorgeous story--extra long post anytime!
